Why Are Some CCTV Camera Cheaper

Many people would ask: the Sony camera that I bought is real Sony?

In the market, the prices differ much for the same specifications.

Firstly I would say what quality, what price. And currently most CCTV cameras are using the same materials. Take the bullet CCTV camera for example. If you disassemble it, you will find the parts: the main board, LED board, housing and cable. That is very simple.

Main board covers most of the cost. There are CCD, DSP, CDS/AGC, V-Driver, EEPROM, EVR(Sony camera has it), etc. The prices of these parts are nearly the same for each company. And the PCB boards, diodes, resistance and SMT cost are the market price. Thus the cost for a whole CCTV camera is almost the same. Then why are some CCTV camera cheaper?

1.Different housing. Public mould can save a lot of mould charging. Using second grade material can also save some as they look the same after painting. Being thinner can still save several CNY too.

2.Different filter. Glass filter will be cheaper than crystal ones. The image will be worse, but it saves cost.

3.Different circle. Making it simpler can also save some cost, but there may be more noises.

4.Different LED. Made-in-China LED is much cheaper than made-in-Taiwan, but the lifespan is shorter.

So the prices determine the CCTV camera quality. Borsche does not like to sacrifice the quality to provide the lower and lower prices. The much cheap ones probably have several month lifespan.
