There are lots of CCTV cameras for the safety of a housing estate, traffic, public places, many of which areIR CCTV cameras. Many customers perfer to buy the those camera that is able to get a good shooting at night. The IR CCTV camera can get colorful pics during the day and black and white at night. Therefore, when choosing CCTV camera lens, technical basis as follows:

1. The image size
It should be consistent with the size of the CCD. In the security industry, it usually has 1/2 inch, 1/3 inch, 1/4 inch and others.
2. The resolution of lens
As for the size of the CCD standard, 1/3 inch CCTV camera is 4.8mm width and 3.6mm height. For the 1/3 inch CCTV camera, CCD is smaller and the resolution of lens is required higher.
3. The focal length of the lens and viewing angle
According to the distance between CCTV camera and the monitored object, we choose the focal length of the Lens. When the focal lens F confirmed, the viewing angle is determined by the target surface of CCTV camera.
4. Luminous flux is measured by the ratio of the focal length of lens and the aperture. We mark F. Every lens has its max F. It usually has F1.0/ F1.2/ F1.4 and so on. The luminous flux is inversely proportional to the F value squared. The smaller F value is, the bigger the luminous flux is. We can choose the manual luminous flux or the auto luminous flux according to the light change of monitoring places.
So the lens plays an important role in the quality of CCTV camera. We can not judge a good CCTV camera only from the CCD. There are many other factors to determine the quality of CCTV camera, like the lens.

In the previous essays, we introduce PTZ(Pan, Tilt, Zoom) cameras. Today we will tell you more about PTZ cameras.
There are so many sorts of PTZ cameras in the market. The specifications of 36x, 27x, 10x, Sony, Hitachi, Samsung are very common. But do you know how to distinguish these cameras and tell which are better, which are not so good? Firstly we should know the movement (the integrated lens) which is the most important part in the PTZ cameras. Some ones are original Sony movements. It means the whole movement is made by Sony. Usually it is very expensive while the quality is excellent, no matter the stability or image quality. This is the same as Samsung, Hitachi movement. There are many economical movements. The cost is even 1/3 of Sony. They are usually made in medium manufacturer. They are most cost-effective. And please note that one quality, one penny.

CCTV Camera Installation Guide

I will show you how to install CCTV Cameras to form a simple surveillance system. Firstly let’s see the indication of guide below:

This is a simple system. There are four cameras, one DVR and a monitor. If we buy a DVR kit, the necessary accessories are included, such as video and power cable, power supply, remote, VGA cable, etc. Let’s install them step by step.

First step: install the cameras in the right place. Use tools to fix the cameras on the wall or ceiling or other proper places. Please note the indoor cameras mustn’t be installed outdoor.

Second step: place the cable on/in the right places. It is better to hide the cables if possible. And make sure the shortest way from the cameras to the DVR.

Third step: connect the cables to the cameras and DVR and power supply. I have a suggestion. It is better to make a mark on the end of the cable to recognize each camera. And also connect the DVR to the monitor. If there is LAN/modem, we can connect the DVR to the router or modem in order to access to internet.

By now, the CCTV Cameras have been installed. Next we turn on the power to test if they are working in good condition.

DVR , as an important part for surveillance systems, the main role is to monitor and storage. It’s the most indispensable equipment in security monitoring project. 

In the process of installing and using, how to solve the problem once occurred? Below I would give some explanation for different situation.

Question 1: Why it will show blue screen, crash or restart?
Normally it’s conflicted by software or hardware compatibility, please check the system is whether clear or any hardware conflicted. Please be strictly to install the DVR accordance with instructions.  

Question 2: Why can’t record video?
First: forget to set recording (Continual recording, Mobile recording ), You can find the Record setting.
Second: the capacity of disk-space is not enough, please scan it.

Question 3: How to add more users to the DVR?
Set- the User options
User right: Parameters setting, Playback, Record, Exit, Minimize, and Remote control.

Question 4: Why system halted once connected PTZ?
When connecting RS485 Cable to PTZ, the PTZ will move around, at this time the image will lead to the source of CPU increasing. If connect more PTZs, it will lead systems crash.

Question 5: How to use the Dynamic IP function?
Initiate “DDNS”, Fill in your realm name ,then register, if present” already registered, failed ”, Please change another realm name. After registering successfully, you can visit the DVR through Outer Internet.

The different point is : our eyes can view really objects, but the camera will catch image depend on in different environment. For example: it will show yellow in dark Yellow -fluorescent lamp.

1. Wide-angle lens: perspective:>90°focus length: 2.5mm; 2.8mm

Just llike the other electronic device, the CCTV cameraalso will have many many problems. Here I’d like to share with you how to solve the most common problems for CCTV Camera.

The first problem will be no signal on the monitor. If so you have to think about that if the cable connections are ok. In fact, it is the most common problem people will meet.So next time, you meet this problem, please just check them. If the connection are all right, then the problem will be a little complicated.

Sometime you will find the picture background color changes continuously. Maybe the TV system is wrong. If your TV system is PAL, but you use the NTSC system.

The other problem maybe the fluorescent lamp’s electromagnetic fileld cause the color changes. So you need reduce the fluorescent lamp numbers or increase the distance between the cameras and the fluorescent lamps.

The last possible problem is that there is no image at the night. For this the reason maybe the power for the CCTV cameras is not enough. If you use cables at 50m, and you still use the DC12V 1A power supply. Maybe the power will weak so much at the camera ens. And it can not support the IR Led work.

A case of CCTV Camera Faults

As we know, when our customers use the CCTV Camera, it might be have some problems that make them troubled. Below is the common cctvcamrea faults from my customers and how we solve it.

1.      The DVR can not control the Address of PTZ cameras.

One of my customers told me that he has 1 problem with the ptz ,as they are only working as ptz 1. if i put on dip switch 2 on the 10 row the ptz is not taking the address. it only working on dip switch 1. I have tried different dip switches put no change. Their are only working on ptz 1.

Then I tell him that we have two ways to control the address of PTZs,

A.hardware address,we have to choose  the hardware address(not the software address)in the PTZ cameras menu before you change their DIP switch,and the PTZ address should set separately one by one before you connect them to the DVR or Keyboard(do you use keyboard?);not at the same time,

B software address,we can set their software address from keyboard or DVR,you can have try.it's easier set than from DIP switch.

2.      The cctv camera no image on the screen.

Last time my customer bought the IR dome camera from our factory, but when he tested it, he told me that camera no image. He sent me photo of CCTV System. I asked him to check the following things carefully

A.      the power supply DC 12V 1A..  whether it is not connected well. And Voltage is enough and right Power standard.

B.      the BNC connector connect well or not

C.      CCD board and DSP of cctv camera has problems, so it can not work and no image

D.     CCTV cables has problems…
